A pint before the Pint? Don’t miss the Belgian launch event of the largest science festival in the world!
This May, the Pint of Science festival comes to Belgium for the first time to bring you the best of Belgian science, delivered directly to your local bar. To celebrate and to give you a taste of the cerebral joys to come, Pint of Science Belgium brought together top scientists from all over the country for a special launch event on 17 April at ViaVia Café in Brussels.
Join us from 19:30 for a relaxed evening of science and fun hosted by long time Pint of Science friend Lieven Scheire.
On the menu:
- How forensic science actually works, with Prof. Dieter Deforce (University of Ghent). Spoiler alert: probably not as in « CSI Miami ».
- The mathematics of digital images in your everyday life, with Prof. Ann Dooms (Vrije Universiteit Brussel).
- The hunt for exoplanets in the far far away TRAPPIST -1 system with Emmanuël Jehin (University of Liège).
- A peek into the programme of the upcoming festival, of course.
- Pints of whatever makes you happy, and waffles! Ok, MAYBE some waffles. No promises.
ENTRANCE IS FREE BUT REGISTRATION IS MANDATORY
Is it for me? You do not need to be a scientist to understand or enjoy the talks. Pint of Science aims to make science accessible to all. If you want to have a nice evening, meet interesting people, get a couple of drinks and learn something in the process, this is for you!
What is this festival? The festival was born in 2014 in the UK and never stopped growing since, to reach 21 participating countries this year. It will take place on 14, 15 and 16 May simultaneously all around the world, including in the Belgian cities of Brussels, Ghent, Liège, Leuven, Antwerp, Louvain-La-Neuve and Bruges. It is the perfect occasion for you to meet scientist in flesh and have a great evening in your local pub. What is better than a science café? Tons of science cafés, celebrating science all around the world at the same time!
